Title: Unable to Add Second PPPoE WAN on OPNsense 25.1 - "Interfaces -> Other Types" Me
Post by: hg15287 on June 16, 2025, 06:12:45 PM
Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to get some help with a strange issue on a fresh installation of OPNsense version 25.1.

My Goal:
I'm trying to set up a multi-WAN configuration with two separate PPPoE connections from two different ISPs for failover and load balancing.

System Information:

OPNsense Version: 25.1 (amd64, installed from the official 'dvd' ISO)
Hardware: A standard mini-PC with multiple network ports (bare metal installation).
The Problem:
I was able to successfully configure the first WAN interface as PPPoE during the initial web setup wizard. However, I cannot find any way to add the second PPPoE connection.

The standard menu path Interfaces -> Other Types is completely missing from my navigation menu. I have checked several times.

Troubleshooting Steps I've Already Taken:

Performed a fresh, clean installation of OPNsense 25.1.
Used the console wizard (Option 1: Assign Interfaces) on first boot to correctly assign my physical ports to the logical WAN and LAN interfaces.
Confirmed that both physical WAN cables are plugged in and have an active link status.
Checked under System -> Firmware -> Plugins and confirmed that the os-ppp plugin is installed.
My Questions:

In OPNsense version 25.1, has the menu for creating new PPPoE/L2TP/VLAN interfaces (the "Other Types" page) been moved to a different location?
Is this a known issue with the 25.1 release, or is there an alternative method to create a second PPPoE client that I am missing?
I can provide screenshots of my full Interfaces menu if needed.

Thank you very much for any help you can offer!
