Title: [SOLVED] Client can connect on LAN but not on WAN
Post by: Nuitarius on June 01, 2025, 12:14:00 PM
I am new to OpenVPN
I am running OPNsense v25.1 and using OpenVPN "Instance" not legacy.
I assume that when the client is working LAN side and not WAN side that firewall is likely to be the reason?

I did 2 firewall rules, based on some guide I found. A pass on WAN for UDP 1194 Destination: "WAN Address", and another pass on OpenVPN for Source: "OpenVPN Net".

I still have all the automatic rules, and have not implemented other rules than the above 2.

I exported my client .ovpn, and it connected while I was on LAN side. When trying WAN side (via mobile net), it could not connect.

Does someone have a hint for me :)

EDIT: I solved it by enabling the openVpn interface that I created, but apparently did not enable?!?
