Title: Changelog fetch times out
Post by: Blade3 on April 05, 2025, 04:59:42 PM
Hi All,

This issue has come up a few times and there's some threads on it in here.

When I try to do a firmware update, I get timeouts on the changelog fetch.

I have set the following WAN DNS servers:

1.1.1.1
8.8.8.8

I have disabled using opnsense as local dns service

In interface settings and wan interface, IPV6 is disabled

Unbound DNS is disabled

What makes you suspect DNS?

Stock DNS settings has:
* Nothing for DNS servers in System > Settings > General.
* Allow DNS server list to be overridden by DHCP on WAN unchecked (same page).
* Unbound enabled with no forwarders (Services > Unbound > Query Forwarding & DNS over TLS)
In this configuration, Unbound behaves as a recursive resolver.

Whether or not you keep your config or revert to stock, you should test DNS in Interfaces > Diagnostics > DNS Lookup.

Leave unbound running and make sure the time is correct on the machine.
