Title: Local users removed after update
Post by: mstriani on March 13, 2025, 01:55:02 PM
Hi Team, I have this thing that I'm not sure if is something missconfigured or what... but befor (in other releases) it didn't happend.

The thing is that I have 2 users crated within the OS (adduser) or even created with the webgui and every update they are gone (from the OS but not from the webgui), to solve this I create the users every update... but it's kind of anoying... any clue of what'd be happening here??

Versions
OPNsense 25.1.3-amd64
FreeBSD 14.2-RELEASE-p2
OpenSSL 3.0.16

Thanks

If the usernames overlap between system and GUI and the users don't have shell access they are going to be removed since 25.1.

Cheers,

The users doesnt overlap, but they has no access to shell and set sh as /usr/sbin/nologin...

Should I grant the login??

If the users do not have access to the shell, they do not need entries in /etc/passwd. OPNsense comes with its own PAM module.
