Title: OPNSense completely stopped working. Need help troubleshooting. (Log Included)
Post by: runswithscissors17 on March 05, 2025, 10:17:25 PM
I'm relatively new to OPNSense, though I do have proficiently in Linux and am pretty literate with Networking. I recently setup my OPNSense router to my AT&T Internet. I used HomeNetworkingGuys guide. All worked well, until my router started disconnecting from the internet. I think it has something to do with the WAN, since every time it disconnects it shows the WAN as unavailable or on a Private Network. I've attached my Logs from System -> Log Files -> General. I'd really appreciate some help to get this going. I'm currently connected directly to the AT&T Modem, since my OPNSense router is completely offline.

The Log file is 4Mb so I'm attaching a link in my GDrive.

re0: watchdog timeoutThis is your problem or at least one of them. Realtek NICs are bad in freeBSD. Ideally you change to a better supported one. Intel ones are the ones usually suggested.
As a temporary mitigation you could -if you haven't yet- use the realtek-vendor driver "os-realtek-re"

Thanks for your response...dang, I'm using a Minisforum miniPc, so I don't think I'll be able to change the network card. I'll use the plugin. Was that the main issue, u think? What other problems did you see?

I normally don't follow links from forums. I made a tweak to make an exception. I'm unable to do it again for the moment, sorry.
Best to paste here in code quotes the main parts.
