Title: System information - Quality ?
Post by: TomT on February 22, 2025, 12:09:58 AM
Hi,
I've been having a look around my Opnsense server and was hoping someone could explain what system information quality is showing me.

I've attached an image of what I get.
Thanks

It shows you the packet loss of your WAN connection in percent - in blue and apparently it's zero for the entire duration which is why you do not see a blue line. Zero loss is good.

It shows the delay of your WAN connection in seconds - in light blue and it's consistently between 8 and 9 milliseconds which is also good.

It shows the standard deviation of the delay, that is how much the delay varies over time - in orange, should be as low as possible and actually is for your setup as one can already guess from the nice steady light blue line for the delay itself.

HTH,
Patrick

Would you be kind enough to advise 'Where is this graph within OPNsense'?
Which menu item?

/ui/diagnostics/systemhealth
Reporting > Health > Quality

This will be shown only if monitoring of the GW is active.

If I enable Gateway Monitoring: System > Gateways > Configuration > edit WAN Gateway configuration > Uncheck Disable Gateway Monitoring
does this add any noticeable overhead (CPU load) to low-powered firewalls?  (like my ancient APU2D4)
