Title: DHCP ISC DHCPV4 IP assigment Issue
Post by: smnaqvee on February 20, 2025, 05:37:46 PM
Hi All <

I have VLAN created on LAN interface . However when I attch that LAN interface cable to my PC I dont get any IP rather APIPA assigned with 169.x.x.x. But when I read DHCP logs see :
2025-02-20T16:26:35    Error    dhcpd    receive_packet failed on vlan03: Device not configured
2025-02-20T16:26:35    Error    dhcpd    receive_packet failed on vlan02: Device not configured
2025-02-20T16:26:35    Error    dhcpd    receive_packet failed on vlan01: Device not configured

These all are 3 VLANS.

Howevr even LAN interface dont assign IP whereas all DHCP enabled all settings are correct. But whrn I reboot firewall box or reload all services then I get Ip instantly. Any idea and hints on this ? Thanks

You have to restart the dhcp service daemon after changing network topology, otherwise it will not detect the interfaces correctly.

Yes, but I assume there may be other things that could use a restart, as well. Changing network topology is probably a good reason for a reboot in order to clear things up.

Yeah once reboot opnsense box or reload all services then get Ip else it does not work at all.
