Title: Best NIC 4x1Gb PCIe 1x
Post by: mag89 on January 21, 2025, 07:54:13 AM
Hi all
Recently I bought a Futro S940 to install Opnsense baremetal.
This mini pc have a 1x pcie slot available with a 90 degree riser.
Could you suggest me some option for 4 ports 1Gb NIC that can be connected to pcie 1x slot?
I have found several Intel NIC but they require pcie 4x slot.
Thank you!

You can try with Intel PRO1000PT quad port

Best to check FreeBSD HW compatibility list
https://www.freebsd.org/releases/14.2R/hardware/

Also keep in mind depending what GEN the PCIe will affect the throughput. For example if that PCIe is not at least GEN4 for X1 you can not have 4x1G total throughput

Many thanks for your feedback.
I'm struggling at the moment to have this detail from my Futro S940. I think I need to better investigate with Google :)
