Title: Does a driver exist for this ethernet card?
Post by: FrenzyBiscuit on January 13, 2025, 12:31:04 AM
Basically, title.

I am installing OPNSense on a alienware laptop, which has a "killer" ethernet card built in. I am also using a USB-C to 2.5Gbps adapter.

The USB-C adapter works, as does the built-in wifi card, but the killer ethernet card does not show up.

Is there a driver I can manually install to get this working?

If not, I will use a thunderbolt hub and use two or three USB-C to ethernet adapters.

Thank you!

My understanding is that you get what is included in the default install (as someone else put it, this is not Windows).

You might actually have better luck installing Proxmox and then running OPNsense as a VM.
Driver support is greater on Debian. You might want to do a quick search beforehand though...

Believe it or not the proxmox route worked and it worked well.
