I entered it in the search and it explained how to install it.
It could be that the AI was pulling my leg. :-)

But integrating a searxng server should work, right?

So that all searches go through searxNG.

Are there any instructions?

An LLM is not a search engine. Duckduckgo returns nothing that suggests any connection or plugin if you enter the obvious "OPNsense SearxNG".

Aren't search engines configured in the browser? What would a network security appliance operating on layer 3 have to do with that?

I had read that searxNG can use the proxy in OPNSense. The search engine itself is then set in the browser.

I just thought that it might be simplified by a plugin.

I have https://search.brave.com/search?q=+searxng+plugin+for+opnsense&source=web&summary=1&summary_og=30a6325e32deee81de0142

Then you need to install os-squid, which is the proxy plugin. Good luck with the rest of the configuration. I do not use the proxy.
