Title: Hardware compartibility for HA
Post by: cdsane on August 08, 2024, 12:59:28 PM
Hello
I wanted to know if it is possible to setup HA with slightly different hardware

You can but should then use LAGG to hide the differing hardware network card names.

The specs shouldn't differ too much. Worst thing is an underpowered backup box that you want to rely on...

Thanks for the update but can you provide a guide as to how to go about hiding the interfaces using LAGG

1. Create LAGG.
2. Assign hardware interface to LAGG
3. Use LAGG as WAN, LAN, etc.

Make sure all interfaces have the same identifiers on both boxes. Done.

Also i want to know does setting up HA always have to be a fresh setup or the backup can come up later and we can still achieve HA

You don't have to have a backup, but if you want to plan ahead use LAGG. ;)
