Post by: nicholaswc on August 01, 2024, 07:54:49 AM
I just upgraded my OPNSense to version 24.7_5-amd64. After upgraded, the dashboard crash alway. Please the attached pic. I using this device as a router for internal LAN, the routing service stopped during crash. I stopped the wireguard service and reboot the device. The service resumed. but today I go back from lunch, the dashboard crashed again.

Just upgraded from 24.1.10_8 to 24.7_9, and the dashboard looks absolutely broken. I sincerely trust OPNsense and its developers, but really I'm asking why to change something that worked well with such a mess! :/

Specifics matter. And plenty of dashboard patches are due tomorrow in 24.7.1 too.

Cheers,
Franco

Thank you Franco, and sorry for my outburst. Even after reset the dashboard and restart the webgui, almost all widgets fails to load (see attached screenshot) and even whose loaded crash after I change UI page. In particular I've never be able to see the contents of the "System Information" widget.

I've only tested the new release in a VM with low resources, which worked slowly with the previous release, but this one seems to drain heavily the vCPU, to the point to make the webui unusable.

I'm definitely looking forward the 24.7.1 release. And thanks for your precious work! :)

Yeah, no worries. Can you open the dev console in the browser and reload to page to see what errors it emits?

Thanks,
Franco

Just tried with the dev console active: all widget load errors seem to be of type "timeout":

Failed to load content for widget: systeminformation, Error: Object { xhr: {...}, textStatus: "timeout", errorThrown: "timeout" }

The timeout was updated to 5 seconds in 24.7_9 which solved this for most people, but could always be too short for some deployments. Can you try to update to 24.7.1 today and see if it remains? We could change the timeout locally for you if it keeps happening to see if it's just that or some other issue that leads to the timeout error.

Cheers,
Franco

Wonderful: just upgraded to 24.7.1 and all widgets load without problem. Thanks for your work!

Not sure what that was then but glad it's working now. Major crisis averted :D

I'm running 24.7.6 currently and am also having this issue. Ever since updating to 24.7.x I've been experiencing the GUI locking up. Almost every time I engage with it for longer than a handful of minutes it will lock up. Sometimes refreshing through the browser refresh button helps but sometimes I need to close and reopen the tab. No hardware changes or even setup changes were done, just the upgrade to 24.7.x

When it's not seized I can visually notice a jumpy traffic graph. Also if I try and change the position of a widget, it won't move with me and usually have to drop it somewhere in-between my chosen location.

How do I got about changing the timeout?

Same, full lockup after some time with a clean install.
