Upgraded from 24.1.10 on bare metal with IPv4 only. Upgrade took a little longer than usual (probably the OS upgrade), but be patient and it will finish. New widgets are running happily. AdGuard, Acme, DDNS, Nut and mDNS all seem to be working correctly.
Thanks OPNsense team for the awesome new release!

Seconded :-)
Thrilled and thirded..
OPNsense + ZenArmor all good so far.
Very fast update in my case. Once gain Franco and team many thanks!
Now lets play and setup the widgets :D
Regards,
S.
Can confirm!
IPv4 and IPv6 working well, Unbound/CrowdSec/Wireguard working as expected
Have not adopted the new DHCP method(s) yet, still on the old service, to dos, to dos..
Thank you OPNSense!!
Smooth here too using CWWK box on bare metal.
I just used the web GUI to upgrade.
A few clicks and done. After backing up the config.
Absolute smooth sailing - including the new IPv6 prefix feature for the WAN interface! ;D
the upgrade went smoothly, but a little annoyance on the homepage right now. After adding the interface widget, I'm able to see the interfaces, but it doesn't show the link speeds now. :/
My upgrade from 24.1.10 to 24.7 was also smooth, but I did encounter one oddity: health reporting wasn't working. Restarting the machine didn't work, but toggling the RRD graphing backend option off and back on seemed to do the trick. Sadly I didn't notice in time, nor were there any errors in the logs, so I lost a few hours of health report data.
This is noob question but how do you upgrade?
I have latest opnsense 24.1. New install on bare metal around 2 months ago - so quite a clean situation.
I was expecting an option to upgrade to 24.7 but nothing so far.
You check for updates and install them... ? :)
Cheers,
Franco
Thanks. Checked for updates again and 24.7 turned up. Installed and everything seems fine so far.
Congrats to Franco and all the contributors/team
Add me to the list.
Had a weird thing where my 4G backup router was offline after the upgrade....
Drove over to it, pulled the power on it, reapplied and it came back up no issues.
I've done 3 routers so far, and all are working as expected.
Good Job @Franco and the teams
Update process was smooth on (3) different bare-metal PCengines APU2-series boxes. Two APU2E4s and 1 APU2C4. (4GB RAM in each device.) All upgrading from 24.1.10.
Interestingly, upgrade time varied from as short as 5 minutes to as long as 16 minutes.
All settings appear to have been preserved. Multiple site-to-site wireguard VPN tunnels came back up without any tweaking.
I'm not sure what I think of the new dashboard yet. Widgets all seem broken but I'm sure this will get worked out eventually. Dashboard + widgets are cosmetic, not required.
Upgrade from24.1.10_8 to 24.7_5 was smooth overall. Some issue encountered.
1. Zenarmor DB (elastic 8.x) needs reinstallation else will have "error" when doing index check.
2. Multiwan on Load Balancing meaning GW1 Tier1 and GW2 Tier1 in GatewayGroup has no effect. Failover with the same settings works fine. Another odd thing is not sure how the system chooses the GW - one GW will be ACTIVE even if both are set the same weightage meaning priority 255 respectively. This function the same whether the UPSTREAM GW is selected or not in the GW config.
If anyone has a solution to pointer 2 will be much appreciated. Pointer 2 on LB mode was working fine before upgrade meaning 24.1.10_8. Not sure what broke during upgrade. Apart from these 2 issues for my use case, all are good including WireGuard VPN. In fact WireGuard speeds are faster. Kudos to the team for bringing this 24.7.
Thanks for the update: Baremetal upgrade to 24.7 completed with no issues via vga console; download, upgrade, and a few reboots later the total time was less than 10 minutes.
Had a smooth upgrade also. Congrats to the team !
I did notice the Reporting stopped working after upgrade. Fixed it disabling & enabling the RRD graphing backend (Reporting -> Settings)
