I just saw this error in my log, is it something I should react on???
Thanks in advance
How did you configure IPv6 on interface igc0? Something is wrong with that.
Remember that radvd is located at Services/Router Advertisments. This configuration should also be taken into account for that interface.
Well, its stock, i did not change anything, IPV6 configuration type is, track interface...is that the problem?
What are the actual IPv6 addresses and prefix lengths on WAN and LAN? What size of a prefix does your ISP give you?
You can obfuscate the lower 4 words of the addresses.
Not sure how I see this....
Dashboard - interface widget. Or Interfaces > Overview.
Looks like i get a /56 from ISP and /64 from LAN...
Which interface is igc0? You should not run router advertisements on WAN.
Igc0 is LAN
Please post the output of "ifconfig igc0".
Hmm...how do i find that? Sorry, not much experince in this
Login to your OPNsense via SSH, type "ifconfig igc0 <ENTER>" and copy and paste the output as text here.
Oh..I dont have any experience with that, any other way?
No. Debugging things requires use of the command line. We want to diagnose "what's really going on" without possible UI or other glitches in the way.
I guess I need direct acces to my opnsense box with monitor and keyboard....is this the only way??
No. Use SSH to log in. You need an SSH client for your desktop system, comes included in Linux, Mac OS and Windows 10 and later.
Enable the SSH service in your OPNsense UI: System > Settings > Administration
Open a terminal/command window on your desktop. Enter
ssh root@<ip of your opnsense>
plus the enter key.
Enter your password. If you are greeted by a menu, pick "8" for "shell". You now have a command prompt on your OPNsense.
Its "Secure shell" enable, right?? I get an erorr when i do that. "Not intended for server use"
System > Settings > Administration
See screenshot. You probably need to enable password authentication, too.
I give up...I get an error more....
This does not make sense - it does not apply to SSH at all. Something else in your settings above that SSH section is broken. Probably something about the configured SSL cert for the UI.
It looks like my prefix setting for igc0 is 56, it should be 64....is it possible to change that
Of course. That's what that error message is telling you all along.
if you need help then please show the settings for igc0 in the UI.
This??
In the UI navigate to Interfaces > LAN. These settings. The whole page of them.
Thanks for your kind and patience, help...but I have had it!!!!! I set the IPV6 in LAN and WAN to "None" and set the FW rule that normally pass IPV6, to BLOCK, in stead....that should do the trick, dont need IPV6 and dont want to spend more time on it.
No more errors in the log...problem SOLVED 🤣
Thanks again
NB. This sounds weird, but pages load faster online..
