Is it just me after upgrade from release type : development and 24.1, the kernel is still in 13.2?
FreeBSD OPNSENSE 13.2-RELEASE-p11 FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p11 stable/24.1-n255023-99a14409566 SMP amd64
I am expecting the development 'channel' shall enable the kernel be upgraded to 14.1. May be I was wrong?
I was once tried 14.1-STABLE kernel in 24.1, and opnsense-update -k
told me nothing to do
Thanks in advance,
Hazuki
It's just the development version of OPNsense running on FreeBSD 13.2 kernel and base.
You can either do a fresh install of 14.1 Beta or wait for RC1 - when an upgrade path should become available for the ones willing to help out with the testing

True. The development track is for the core package for the most part. While we could bundle a different kernel with a different opnsense-update package (opnsense-update-devel) the work required for the little benefit gained (too few people are testing the development version) it's time better spent elsewhere.
In the very trick cases where FreeBSD major versions switches said approach would even be fatal, because we can't just ship a different major version for a non-matching package build. That's the main reason you don't see upgrades to 24.7 with FreeBSD 14.1 yet.
However, there are beta images out there to reinstall your setup which work and will eventually also upgrade to 24.7.x.
Cheers,
Franco
Thanks for explaining the purpose of experiment track! :)
No wonder I can see the reported OPNsense version is 24.7 yet kernel is still 13.2.
