Hi - i've been using 23.7.12 for a while, but it was time to upgrade.
This is on a physical device with an Intel 4 port NIC. (not using the builtin Realtek nic)
I ran the upgrade process from the GUI and it completed successfully - after a reboot, it was running 24.1, so a further upgrade was done and that brought it to 24.1.8
I logged back in all OK, and managed to take a backup. But almost straight away the device became unresponsive and I had no response from the web gui. Checking the device by plugging a screen and keyboard directly in, I saw that the device booted with no config presenting the default options for LAN/WAN and the default IP Address.
Selecting the restore backup option I was presented with several choices, the first 5 were all dated and timestamped the same, being the time I did this "reboot". Backups 6-12 had more realistic timestamps and I chose 1 that looked like it should be ok.
On reload the backup had not been applied - still all the defaults were showing. I repeated this with several other backup instances - all the same, the device just boots into default config. NOTE that no external USB or CD drive was connected - and the device has a single SATA SSD to boot onto.
As it stands, I have installed 24.1 fresh from the install image - but now it won't update and just sits there. I've checked the WAN connection using the ISP's router/wifi device and it all works ok. Have now reconnected the OPN sense WAN port.
Looking for some ideas on how to recover my setup. I have backups made from the GUI from 23.7.12 just before the upgrade, as well as one from the brief moment that 24.1.8 seemed ok.
Many thanks
Jonty
Post a connectivity check and a screenshot from System-Settings-General please
Thanks for the reply.
Sorry, I've re-installed 23.7.12 now - but will likely revisit this issue and then I'll gather more info.
You're 6 months behind on patching , staying on 23.7 is a security risk
