Title: Backup restore from Pen Drive
Post by: pfsp on May 28, 2024, 05:07:52 PM
I'm new to OPNSense, and I would like to know, if in a disaster, can I restore a backup saved on a USB drive, via the CLI menu? I see that in option 13 it only shows the files that are saved locally, how could I move the backup that is on the usb drive to the folder that it reads?

Thanks

I always do a fresh install,
then on the webUI I upload my existing config file (that is automatically backuped daily) and reboot. Done!

Works all the time...

You can install with config.xml import during the install process, see Documentation. Same hardware (interface names...) is helpful though... ;-)

If you have a running installation, why mess around with CLI? Go GUI and have the config on your machine with the browser. On CLI you would have to mount the stick on BSD, i guess.
