Title: IPv6 over PPPoE stopped working
Post by: RoelVB on May 19, 2024, 02:43:25 PM
Hi all,

I have an PPPoE WAN with both an IPv4 and IPv6 block. At some point, unfortunately I don't know when exactly (could have been an update), IPv6 stopped working.

My WAN config:

IPv4 configuration type:PPPoE
IPv6 configuration type:Static IPv6
Static IPv6 config
IPv6 upstream gateway:Auto-detect
Use IPv4 connectivity:Checked

The PtP log shows: "[wan_link0] rec'd unexpected protocol IPV6CP, rejecting", which would explain IPv6 not working, but what does the error mean exactly and what could be causing this?

In case someone stumbles upon this thread.
I've found the cause and reported about it on Github (https://github.com/opnsense/core/issues/7508).
