Morning all,
When I run the firmware update I get the following message: Fetching changelog information, please wait... fetch: https://pkg.opnsense.org/FreeBSD:13:amd64/24.1/sets/changelog.txz: Permission denied
Now I kinda know why this is happening but the question is why. I have a block on my WAN, both inbound and outbound, based on GeoIP and Maxmind. I have locked it down, as the only countries open are the US, Canada, and Switzerland. Since both the US and Canada are open why am I getting this msg? I have to turn off the outbound rule to get this to run properly. My setting for firmware updates is in the screenshot.
Thanks,
Steve
Changelogs are pulled from the main mirror and this one is in NL.
Cheers,
Franco
Franco,
Thank you for this. Is there an IP that I can whitelist?
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve,
Sure:
# host pkg.opnsense.org
pkg.opnsense.org has address 89.149.222.99
pkg.opnsense.org has IPv6 address 2001:1af8:5300:a010:1::1
(these are static unless we should switch the provider I guess)
But an alias would work as well? ;)
Cheers,
Franco
Exactly...I have a whitelist alias setup, as I have others that I had to whitelist...thanks!
