Title: No installer account
Post by: jeffep on April 27, 2024, 04:05:53 AM
Installed proxmox then opnsense in a container as resources are limited - 2Gb ram.
I start the opnsense server and then try to login as 'installer' and there is no account.
I can login as root ok.  I search for the 'configurator' to start the installation instead of
running live.  Is it a bash file?  Check of the system startup log doesn't reveal anything.
Should I try to reinstall?  No listing for 'installer' in /etc/passwd.

I don't think so.  Here's the download: OPNsense-24.1-vga-amd64.img.bz2

Ok, I left out a step that I did on setup.  I downloaded the iso file and created a VM and put opnsense in that.  When I determined that a container is better for lower resources I deleted the VM and created a container instead.  That maybe messed up the installation.  I try to create a container from scratch and see that there is no option to upload an ISO file into a container.  You can only specify a container template.  So perhaps I should stick with a VM?

If a container is LXC or Docker you definitely cannot run OPNsense in that. It needs a VM.
