Title: Does anyone has used this pcie network card Brostrend 2.5G in Opnsense
Post by: mensinhl1977 on March 25, 2024, 03:15:50 PM
Dear All,

I'm new here and I would like some helps from you.

As am new in linux, I try to build a firewall at home with an old pc but recently I have purchased BrosTrend 2.5G pcie network card from amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4LB5TY8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

I would like if someone has used this card in installing OPNSENSE, because Opnsense don't detect the network card when try to install it. So is there a way to install the driver for the network card in the installation of the OPNSENSE?

Please any help.

Best Regards,
Mensinhl

1. OPNsense is not based on Linux.
2. If the card is not detected, it's probably unsupported.

That being said you could try to install the os-realtek-re plugin. No guarantees, though.

It does say "latest Realtek chip", read into that what you will. It's always nice when they are willing to tell you which Realtek chipset they are using. I would guess an RTL8125 which should have some support since other people are using them.
