Title: PPPoE with VLAN Connection Issue
Post by: vurulkan on February 06, 2024, 12:10:06 AM
Hello,

I have fiber (FTTH) internet at home. I connected the Ethernet cable from my ONT device directly to the WAN (igc0) port of my OPNsense device and followed the instructions in this link:

https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=16337.0

I successfully connected to the internet, everything seems normal up to this point. However, when I restart my OPNsense device, my PPPoE connection fails. I found that if I change the parent port of my VLAN in the VLAN settings to another port, apply the change, then change it back to igc0 and apply again, the connection is successfully established.

Is there a method to fix this problem? I thought about writing a bash script that would change the port in the config.xml file, apply the change, then revert the port back to the correct value and apply again, and scheduling it to run at startup, but I couldn't find a way to execute the apply command via the CLI. What are your recommendations?

Thank you.

When I clicked on the info button next to the Promiscuous mode option and read the explanation, I solved the problem. You can close the topic now, thank you 😊.
