Hi,
I'm looking into possibly switching to a Dec750.
Are there any users of this server on the forum who can give me quick performance feedback?
Another question.
On the dec750 documentation it is indicated that the 2 10Gb interfaces do not work at the same time as the 3 2.5Gb interfaces!!!
Do I understand correctly?
We can therefore only connect 2 interfaces in sfp+ or 3 interfaces in 2.5??
I do not believe that to be the case at all.
The SFP+ ports are driven by the AMD network driver (app) and the copper ports are driven by an Intel i210 chip.
No reason they can't be used concurrently.
You probably mis-read the documentation:
QuoteWhen using SFP+Modules, do not mix 2.5/5Gbps and 10Gbps link-speed as the hardware does not support mixing these due to different frequencies.
It means you cannot switch one SFP+ connection independently to 2.5 or 5 GBit/s if you want the other one on 10 GBit/s. That has nothing to do with the 2.5 GBit/s NICs.
Thanks meyergru and dmurphy for your reply.
Always interest by quick performance feedback.
Regards
The performance figures are shown underneath the image here: https://shop.opnsense.com/product/dec750-opnsense-desktop-security-appliance/
The device can route up to to 10 Gbps and ~1.2 Gbps VPN traffic.
