Title: NTP Qnap switch not working.
Post by: Sputnik on December 22, 2023, 09:52:36 PM
Hello

I have a strange problem that I hope someone can give me a solution to.

I have OPNsense 23.7.10_1-amd64 with NTP working, Windows 11 and some Raspberry Pis  etc. work great to sync time with OPNsense.
Both with my own NTP server in OPNsense or for example time.windows.com.

Then ther is the QSW-M2108-2C Layer 2 Managed Switch, which can neither sync time with OPNsense nor time.windows.com.
If a I check firmware uppdate in the QSW-M2108-2C it has access to the internet and respond coreckt.

How is it posseble that the NTP don“t work?
Or have I missed some setting in OPNsense, but all other things work?

I have a QNAP switch from that series which synchronizes with OPNsense without problem.

On the QNAP in system settings, time I'm pointing it to the OPNsense address for that VLAN.

On OPNsense in Services, Network Time, General I've added that VLAN to the Interfaces.

I have no VLAN, but a dual stack ipv4/ipv6 network.

When i hade my old Asus router (RT-AC88U) IPv4 and 6rd Tunnel the QSW-M2108-2C sync time perfectly.
Have also tried turning off IPv6 but that doesn't help either, so it shouldn't be a ipv6 problem.

The time sync problem came when I switched to opnsense. :-[
