Title: Error when creating nested MAC Address Aliases
Post by: v01ded on December 08, 2023, 10:00:21 AM
Hi,

I'm trying to create Nested Aliases with Mac Addresses using "MAC address" type but got an error saying "Entry is not a valid (partial) MAC address."

Anyone has similar issues?

Here is the version I'm using.
OPNsense 23.10_2-amd64
FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p3
OpenSSL 1.1.1w 11 Sep 2023

Try updating OPNsense to the latest version. New versions often include bug fixes and improvements that may solve your problem.

I had the same issue with 23.7.12_5.  Upgrading to 24.1.1 did not solve the problem.

Is this something that is no longer supported, seems odd so few have reported an issue as useful as this feature is for firewall rules.

I've asked my colleague on how this should work and will report back.

Ok, it's never been supported but if this is something of interest please open a ticket on GitHub.
