Title: 23.7.7 -> WAN 0.0.0.0 after reboot
Post by: NW4FUN on October 25, 2023, 06:52:46 PM
I'm lost...

Installation went smoothly as usual...then reboot and BOOM no more internet.
Tried rebooting modem 3x no luck
Tried rebooting OPNsense 3x no luck
Change WAN interface no luck

I'm running out of ideas and kids want to kill me.

Help!!!

I ran into the same symptoms (update and then no internet). I could not access the GUI and I could not ssh into the router, but I could ping the router. I ended up connecting a monitor and keyboard and rebooting the router. I successfully logged in as an admin user. I then connected my laptop to the LAN port and was able to login to the GUI. I shut everything down, plugged LAN/WAN back in and it just started working.

The only 3rd party repository I use is for AdGuard. I saw the release notes but it's a slow day so I thought I would live dangerously  :)

0.0.0.0 means the ISP lease doesn't go through for one reason or another, but it's very hard to diagnose without any logs. Not sure what change would cause this as the core changes are rather all not related to DHCP.

@Franco

You're both right and wrong as dico is immediately released if connected directly into the modem and it was working "flawlessly" up until 23.7.6

That said, I solved by setting WAN as static IP with a dummy address and then back to DHCP.

Thanks to both Franco and julsssark for the inputs anyway

Sounds more like upstream router glitch based on the fact that nothing really changed on the code side.

In any case happy to hear it's back up and running.
