Title: Randomly Crashes
Post by: 0zzy on October 20, 2023, 03:13:57 PM
Since today I can't do anything in the WebGUI, also a pkg update run ends in crashing the system.

The only thing I changed yesterday was to configure the Telephony in the Firewall Settings.
I don't installed anything since Monday, also restored a backup from Sunday, but the Problem still exists.

I'm not really sure if the crash report was send, so where can I find it to add it here?

What I found out, it's enough to change a setting in Unbound or simply check for new updates in the webui.

If it still crashes after applying a backup, it probably has other reasons. Could it be that there is a hardware issue (defective disk, RAM, CPU)?

Based on the limited info provided, it sounds like bad hardware.  Start with memtest and see what that reports.  I would also do a SMART test on your drive.

Anything beyond that is just a guess without more info.

I run memtest on my server, everything seems to be okay.
Also (because it's a Debian Based System as far as I know [Proxmox]) I run hw-probe, also there no reasons to see...
I reinstalled OPNSense on a new VM.
This installation is running fine (at the moment).

So there have to be any issue in the old installation.

seems I found the guilty service.
after I reinstall telegraf (used for influxdb and Grafana), I have the same problems.
After I click anything in the WebUI, the System is crashing.

So there is no faulty hardware on my side ;)
