Title: Network inactive after reboot
Post by: chrysmon on October 20, 2023, 02:12:18 PM
Hi, new here, actually I'm moving the configuration from pfSense.
After reboot (at least) the management interface is inactive. It works again after a manual ping from the console, I have physical access now during the setup.

Please help to solve this because is a reason to stop working further on configuration.
Many thanks in advance!

You need to provide way more information regarding your setup for us to provide any sort of useful advice.  A network diagram would be helpful as well.

What do you mean by management interface?  How was it inactive?

What do you mean by a manual ping from the console?

I'm setting up opnsense on the same machine where pfsense was running fine. The management interface is where I'm connecting for management, and now the only one I can check it works after reboot. It doesn't till I login into the console and do a ping on the management network. Then the interface is back and works. This is an interface related issue, nothing regarding the network topology, etc. All the network cards are Intel and worked fine under pfsense.

Because I did several installations on the same machine, I confirm the problem was present every time. But after some steps into the configuration the problem is gone. Maybe this is something related to my specific system.
