Post by: prajju1218 on October 17, 2023, 04:23:39 AM
Hi,
i am unable to find plugins on opnsense web server, so i checked if i am able to ping ping pkg.opnsense.org,
which turned out a fail. Also getting error if trying to update on web console.

Can you try

# ping -4 pkg.opnsense.org

But at first glance it doesn't look like a DNS issue.

Cheers,

Does anything work?  It looks like the WAN is down or misconfigured.

Hi,
I actually figured out the solution.
i turned ON the unbound DNS and forwarding and chenged the upstream gateway from LAN to WAN[router].
But, a bit confused how this worked,  ???, can anyone explain???

Explain how DNS and routing works? ;)

Remember clients working is one thing, but setting up connectivity on the firewall itself is a separate issue that can be quickly misconfigured with no impact on attached clients. This is why we have a firmware connectivity audit nowadays...
