Title: Wireless Device (Amazon) No Internet
Post by: MajorPayneDOF on August 12, 2023, 08:19:59 AM
Good evening,

Firstly, I want to say that I'm a very new user to opnsense. I just setup my n100 device using proxmox and then installed opnsense to a VM.

I'm having issues with my Amazon devices not being able to connect to the internet. They can get IP's but are unable to get out to the internet

Hardware
Unifi AC-Pro
Hunsn N100 (opnsense)
unifi 24 port switch
5 amazon devices.
Other devices seem to work fine.

Updated Other devices are not fine.

Is your WAN interface showing as up in the OPNsense dashboard? Does it have a public IP address?

Maybe draw a diagram to show how you are connecting to the internet

My wired devices do not seem to have an issue.

Yes, WAN show up on the primary page. I will get a diagram together. Here is a poor mans

Wifi device to unifi ap to the poe switch to a 2.5gb switch to the router

Here is a very simple network that does not show 99% of my devices.  My phone actually takes between 5-10 mins to go from Connected without internet to connected.

My wired devices do not seem to have an issue.

The problem is with wireless clients then. Do they get an IP address through DHCP? Can they ping the wired devices and vice versa?

Yes, they get an ip. Most of the devices have no way to ping.

Your Unifi web interface will give your their IP addresses. Can you ping them?

Try a "better" WiFi client like a laptop, which has a few more diagnostic options.

Yes i can ping them. Takes 5-10 mins but the phones are able to connect to internet. Qould it be better to connect the aps to the router directly.

Your internal latency is at most 1 or 2 ms. There is another bottleneck. Common culprits are:
Take a packet capture on OPNsense: Interfaces: Diagnostics: Packet Capture
Analyse the results in Wireshark: https://www.wireshark.org/
