so i recently installed opnsense and as the title said everything is working great i have improved my internet speeds and everything is more stable except google services, youtube is slow even gmail is slow updating android devices is also extremly slow.
this is on all devices doesnt matter if its on wifi or direct connect
i am using unbound dns and have it set to the google dns.
i am just at a loss why is google services only slow i have set no rules, this is a relatively fresh install so i have barely configured it.
any help would be appreciated
forgot to mention i have tried turning off the firewall and then all google services work normally, but having the firewall turned off is not a good solution.
im just not sure what rule i can create to fix this or how it should be setup
By deault with a fresh install, all external sites are allowed from lan unhindered.
Unbound will treat every request equally so there's no reason for this behaviour out of the box.
You'll need to narrow down the problem. By the way if this is for wireless devices, you might want to check your Wireless Access Points.
If you turn off the firewall globally in OPßnsense this also turns off NAT so I wonder how your Internet access can work in this case. Please go into more detail about your setup and what exactly you configured. Best include a diagram of your network.

so my setup is the following i have a odroid h3 with the 4 extra lan ports i have all of them in bridge mode except the wan connection i was having trouble getting vlans to work so this is a stop gap soloution for now.
but it was needed so i could connect nearby devices to internet, then a long wire goes to a switch and from there it goes to the ap and all the rooms .
i havent configured much because i dont want to configure to much incase i have to nuke it and start over.
i have tried mdns repeater listening to lan and wan, i have one port open, and i went into traffic shaper and added all the google ip´s and it still didnt do any thing.
havent done much more
im guessing by how everyone is stumped by this i should just nuke it and start over.
but the issue is since i have realtek nic´s i have to download the drivers, isnt there a way to download them to a usb stick and install them that way
