Title: Need help with random reboots
Post by: justacoasterfan on June 11, 2023, 02:10:36 PM
Hey everyone!

My OPNSense firewall has started to randomly crash and reboot under load. It's a Fujitsu Futro S920 Thin Client with an Intel Pro 1000/PT NIC. I have no idea how to diagnose this problem and can't see any problems being reported in the logs. I figured it could have been a power supply or cooling problem, but I already replaced the PSU and reapplied fresh thermal paste (which heavily reduced temps), but it does not seem to have helped too much.

How could I go about diagnosing this?
Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: Only IPv6 seems to be causing this problem, IPv4 works just fine somehow

Try this to look for hardware issues: https://www.stresslinux.org/sl/

I came across this earlier, but none of the downloads seemed to work for me, do you know any other site where I could get it? Does the fact that only IPv6 is affected reduce the chance of it being a hw problem?

Sorry about that, the site is a bit unresponsive right enough :(

Here's my copy from a few years ago: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OLoI0GeK26s8dKpmtwunn9tn-GNwlbL2/view?usp=sharing

Thanks, everything ran fine in Stresslinux I later figured out it was my NIC causing all the issues... Without it everything works fine.
