Post by: Vlion on June 01, 2023, 07:38:27 PM
I hope OPNsense could make ARM image for Raspberry Pi 2/3/4.

You can build them (open source!) but RPI is not a good firewall platform.

Cheers,

Just out of curiosity, can you elaborate a bit on this?

Weak CPU, limited memory, crappy storage, crappy USB connected network interfaces.

3 and 4 have wifi as a second interface, would make a nice little router for traveling :-D

Saying that for about 7-8 years, but nothing happenz. Pfsense had a little device for this use case, but I guess the segment of security-aware users in the public environment is limited... ;-) See crappy Apple, Android/Google stuff beeing used by 99.9999999% of users.

Even the pfSense / OPNsense interface is quite nice you should better run with an OpenWRT based mini router for such traveling cases.
This is for instance offered by GL-Net: https://www.gl-inet.com/products/ (https://www.gl-inet.com/products/) since years...
There are also images offered for Freifunk https://freifunk.net/ (https://freifunk.net/) as e.g. shown in their Wiki https://wiki.freifunk.net/GL-AR300M (https://wiki.freifunk.net/GL-AR300M) (one of possible models) but depends also on Freifunk location.
