Title: BIND improvements in 23.1.6 - what exactly?
Post by: Patrick M. Hausen on April 20, 2023, 03:18:00 PM
Hi all,

in the announcement @franco wrote:
Quotestandalone core DNS support for Bind and Dnscrypt-Proxy plugins

From looking at the UI and the underlying generated config files I assume that RFC 2136 dynamic DNS (DHCP --> BIND) is still not supported. We would need to add dynamic zone support for that. Correct?

So what exactly does "standalone core DNS support" mean?

Thanks!
Patrick

OK, thanks. Currently hacking away on another minor improvement - coming soon. It's been bugging me forever that I cannot use the predefined ACLs "any", "none", "localhost", or "localnets" in OPNsense. Nonetheless I cannot create an ACL named "any", because ... oops, already exists.

That should be manageable with my PHP skills.  :)

Thanks. Happy to pick this up.

The other changes in 1.26 have been sitting on development side for a long time. User test coverage is hard to come by unfortunately. Anyway, thanks for the quick fix!

Cheers,
Franco
