Title: Config from old device to use on new device
Post by: JoK on March 01, 2023, 05:31:11 PM
Hi guys

Im thinking of buying a new device for use with Opnsense, i have one from Thomas Krenn and want a new one from same dealer, this is the one im thinking of buying

https://www.thomas-krenn.com/en/products/application/opnsense-firewalls/opnsense-firewall-configurators/les.html

This is my old one

https://www.thomas-krenn.com/en/products/application/opnsense-firewalls/opnsense-firewall-configurators/les-compact-4l.html

Im thinking, install Opnsense from scratch and use a configuration backup from the old one, will this cause any problems?? How much does the configuration backup contain?

The hardware is of cause not the same, difference in almost everything, difference in number of LAN ports, HDMI and so on, so maybe a one-one from old to new, is not a good idea?? Any words

Thanks

John

Remember to assign the correct interface to the correct NIC or be prepared to do a whole load of cable swapping  ;)

I would take the same approach
