Title: Public IP on wan_dhcp or private?
Post by: Tismofied on February 23, 2023, 03:32:56 AM
I apologies in advance for my stupid question but I am a total beginner in networking and confused about wan_dhcp.
I have a Spectrum D3.1 eMTA DOCSIS 3.1 Advanced Voice Modem connected directly ===> to my qotom mini pc with opnsense on it on WAN side, then from LAN side of my opnsense to ===>port 1 on a tplink TL-SG108E switch and an openWRT router in Access Point mode hooked up to port 4 on the switch.  All is working great as a matter of fact.
What I'd like to know, Is it normal that my WAN_DHCP shows  public IP instead of private? because most of the tutorial videos I'v seen they have private IP in their wan_dhcp.

WAN is your Internet uplink. Having a public IP address on WAN is perfectly normal in most scenarios.
