Title: Can't install due to reboot
Post by: noche on February 15, 2023, 11:57:02 AM
Hello everyone and thank you for accepting me into your community.
I currently have pfsense installed and I want to change it to opnsense the problem I'm having is that after assigning the interfaces it loads a series of data I guess and restarts. So I can never get it to install due to this problem.
I am using a usb with the vga image.
On the pc I have an AMD Athlon II X2 215 and 8GB of ram.
Well, if someone can guide me to solve this and be able to install, I would be very grateful.
All the best.

How are you logging in to the installer?

How are you logging in to the installer?

I'm using a usb I just let everything run from the usb until I get to the interface assignment and when I assign them (And when I don't assign them too) then it sees a bunch of words go by fast and it restarts. I don't know what you mean by login. Excuse me, I'm a newbie. Thank you so much.

Could it be that my processor does not support AESNI? And for that reason I can not install it?

When you boot the installer from USB you get a login prompt in the end. You need to login with user "installer" and password "opnsense". Not login as user "root" and assign interfaces.

If it reboots before you get to the login, some part of your hardware is incompatible with FreeBSD.

Record a movie with your phone to catch those "words going by fast".
