Hello Guys,
We're trying to install OPNsense on NanoPi R5S and R6S https://personalbsd.org/ (https://personalbsd.org/).
FreeBSD is already running on R5S but there is a problem with 2.5G Ethernet. Is there any FreeBSD expert who could help us troubleshooting to understand the problem?
This is out telegram chat: https://t.me/PersonalBSD (https://t.me/PersonalBSD)
Thank you
Tried the FreeBSD-ARM and FreeBSD-Net mailing lists?
The FreeBSD comunity tell me to write on the OPNsense forum. I have not tried mailing lists.
Which FreeBSD community? The official channels for ongoing development are the mailing lists.

This community: https://forums.freebsd.org/ (https://forums.freebsd.org/)

I'm a little surprised the FreeBSD community redirects driver questions to us, but I suppose the information given to them was little to none to diagnose as is the case here.
Cheers,
Franco
I sed to them that we have a problem with 2.5G Ethernet.
They reply to me: "Which part of OPNSense (a derivative) is not supported here is unclear? We cannot and do not support any of the FreeBSD derivatives. We support FreeBSD only."

Sounds like a FreeBSD ports issue with net/realtek-re-kmod to me.
I think the no-support policy is reasonable, but shoving responsibility away pointing to the policy when it doesn't apply to the underlying issue is questionable.
It's best to raise a ticket for the port in https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ and cut out the middleman.

Franco
And/or take it to the freebsd-net and freebsd-arm mailing lists, if you want to discuss things in addition to the bugzilla issue.
As irony will have it I'm probably responsible for surfacing that bug by enabling build in non-Intel/AMD hardware in the port, but I don't have any such hardware to test it with and the fix was supposed to be straight forward in an entirely different area of the code.

I want to thank you for your time! Now it is clear what the problem is. Franco is not your fault relax! I will now continue by opening a report as you indicated.
Is there any progress? It would be really amazing to get OPNsense on R5S running.
If need testing, just say so. As long as I can help, count on me.
Hi,
is there anyone with the kernel config and any other files for building FreeBSD for NanoPI R5S? Is there for opnsense?
thanks,
