Title: Devices not getting DHCP
Post by: MountainGrey on February 07, 2023, 06:11:54 PM
Hi all,
Kinda a brain twister for me, trying to figure out where I've gone wrong.
Built fresh install of Opnsense.
No vlans, no lags, just a /20 and a block of IP's set on the 192.168.10.10-245.
I'm pulling my lan port to a old router in AP mode, all set to DHCP from opnsense.

On some devices, IE blink cameras, Chromecast, Laptop, desktop all get a good IP and can connect to the internet.
On My phone and My fiancee phone, gets a IP but no Internet. Hers is within the scope of the 10.xxx but mine is getting a 5.xx IP. Regardless of static assignment still no connection out.

I'm kinda lost here, can't figure out how some work and others don't.
Anything helps, thanks.

First, 192.168 10.10-245 and /20 do not quite match. Second are you sure your access point is set to AP/bridge mode and does not run its own DHCP server?

Sorry, maybe didn't word that the best.

I have my Opnsense Host on 192.168.5.1 with DHCP blocked out on 192.168.10.10-245.
In theory, it should have everything usable from 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.15.254 on a /20.

Currently, Im using a Netgear XR500 in AP mode, all their forms say that within AP mode it should be be getting DCHP from the upstream router. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1376128/Netgear-Xr500-Nighthawk.html?page=100 (https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1376128/Netgear-Xr500-Nighthawk.html?page=100)

Hopefully, that helps clear up some confusion

I found my issue.
Had a virtual switch from a docker container causing traffic to be routed weirdly.

Thanks for the help.
