Title: OpenVPN access to local network
Post by: kenosen on December 27, 2022, 04:37:56 PM
Hello, all,

I've read through the forums but cannot find the answer to this query: I followed this guide to setup OpenVPN on my router: https://www.sparklabs.com/support/kb/article/setting-up-an-openvpn-server-with-opnsense-and-viscosity/#user-setup

When I attempt to connect using the generated config file, I get an error upon connection. "There was an error attempting to connect to the selected server." I've double-checked all firewall rules and in interfaces unchecked "block private networks" on WAN. Any ideas? Am I to use the OPNSense user login details for logging into OpenVPN also?

Thanks much

I've also attempted this guide: https://homenetworkguy.com/how-to/configure-openvpn-opnsense/ to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to access LAN while road warrioring.

Without showing all f your OpenVPN config and all of your firewall rules (minus secrets) how do you think we can help diagnose? Obviously you configured something not quite right. We need to spot that to help you.

Absolutely. Which config files? Just those produced by the OpenVPN config wizard and screenshots of NAT and firewall for WAN/LAN?
