Title: Internet loss after hooking up DVR from reolink poe camera system
Post by: cgi2099 on December 01, 2022, 03:38:33 pm
Hello all,

I have been rocking along for about 6 months with zero issues after the initial setup.

I recently purchased a Reolink POE camera system. After hooking it up everything seemed to be working great.

But I have noticed I am not losing internet once or twice a day. I don't lose access to the opnsense box or modem but the internet just doesn't work anymore. The only thing that fixes the issue is a reboot.

I confirmed the DVR being the culprit because I can disconnect it and I don't get anymore internet loss?

What could cause this?

My configuration is:

Modem > Opnsense Box > TpLink 8 port dumb switch > Reolink DVR
                                                                              > TpLink AP

Opnsense is on 192.168.1.1
Reolink DVR is on VLAN 10.10.40.1
TpLink AP is on VLAN 10.10.10.1

The TpLink 8 port is PVID 40 to the DVR on port 8 all VLANS are passed to all ports.

Could there be a IP conflict? The Reolink DVR I think gives a 172.xx.xx.xx:XXXX to the cameras.

What VLAN is your computer on?  What kind of NIC is in your opnsense box?  I assume your TPlink switch is POE enable (I asked as most POE's are managed and not "dumb")?  Any other POE devices? Are you hitting power limits?  I assume your Opnsense box isn't connecting to the modem via the TPlink switch and is directly connected via the WAN?
