Title: No WAN connection
Post by: kulows on November 20, 2022, 02:32:16 PM
HELP!  H!  I am new to OPNSense and I bought a brand new DEC750.  I used my serial cable to configure the LAN to 192.192.2.0 /24 and I am able to login to the device using the 192.168.2.1.  However, I am unable to get to outside web sites, etc.  I checked my firewall rules and I am allowing IPV4 and IPV6.

The weird part is I am using an Edgerouter ER4 with the same IP settings.  When I connect the ER4, everything works, but when I hook the DEC750 in, nothing works.  My wireless and LAN devices cannot connect to google, etc.

I am thinking that when I changed the default IP address from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.1, something got blocked?

Did you change the IP on the pc?
Did you change any rules?

I changed the IP address on my PC to 192.168.2.11 in order to access the DEC750.

I have an advanced network with the DEC750.  I have my WAN port hooked into the MODEM and the LAN port connected to my Cisco 12 port managed switch.  I have multiple VLANs being trunked to my Ruckus wireless through the switch and 2 SSIDs are being broadcasted.

So, when I connected the DEC750, my wireless clients cannot get to an outside website.  I even tried connecting my static IP PC to the LAN port and I still can't connect to Google, youtube, etc.  I verified that DHCP is enabled and I have subnets for the LAN and VLANs?  I also verified that the interfaces are set properly for the VLANs

I also verified that I have allow IPV4 and IPV6 for LAN and all the VLANs.  The only blocks I have are ICMP IPV4 and IPV6

I just verified that the ZWAN connection was pulling an IP address and that my PC pulled a DHCP 192.168.2.3 and I saw it in the leases.

However, I am able to ping 8.8.8.8 but not google or YouTube

You are replacing the Edgerouter with the DEC, not connecting to it, correct?
When using the DEC, do you get a public IP on the WAN?

Hi!  Yes, I am replacing the Edgerouter with the DEC750 and not connectd to it.  When I connect the DEC750 to my MODEM, I get a 31.xx.xx.xx IP address from my ISP.  I also get a DHCP address of 192.168.2.3 from my DEC750 when I connect my PC to the LAN (igb0) port.  However, I have no internet access and cannot ping any public web sites.  I have allowed all IPV4 and IPV6 through to all interfaces on my Firewall and all the Interfaces are enabled.

I think I will reset the device while it is connected to the MODEM and try leaving all the defaults.  I setup the device on my table before I tried connecting it to my MODEM?  The funny things is I also bought an ER6 Protectli Vault with an Intel I5 and it is doing the same thing, no devices connected to the LAN port can access outside Internet sites!

In OPNSense, should I leave the GW for each LAN and VLAN blank?  For instance, on VLAN20 I am using 10.20.20.0 /27 and I set the GW=10.20.20.1.

Here is a picture of my network!  I removed my Edgerouter and replaced it with the DEC750.  The middle port is the WAN port.

Everything works great with the Edgerouter, just can't get the DEC750 to work.  The configurations and Firewalls look correct

Are you referring to "Upstream Gateway" setting in the interface config?
If so, yes, you leave that blank.

Have the appropriate settings between the router and the ISP been correctly configured for the router to establish a working ISP connection.
