Ok, I'm not sure if this is expected behaviour and I'm new to OpnSense so apologies if this is a newbie type of question.
I have setup OpnSense with a LAN and WAN interface. I can browse the Internet fine from the LAN.
I then add an OpenVPN client connection. When I activate this connection (and it connects fine according to the logs) I can no longer connect to the Internet with any device on than LAN.
Is this normal behaviour? It seems odd that this is occurring. If I disable the OpenVPN client, my LAN devices can browse the Internet again.
This occurs even before I create an interface for the OpenVPN client. Which I find highly perplexing, as it is not even available to break routing.
I am on the latest version OPNsense 22.7.7_1-amd64
Any ideas?
In general no, it's not a normal behaviour. There is a problem somewhere but not enough information.
It is unclear what you mean by an OpenVPN client connection. Is OPN being set as a client to an external OpenVPN provider, or is it being a server and you have added a client to connect to it? By the reported symptoms, I imagine is the former.
Please clarify the question and provide more information of the setup. Ideally ip ranges, firewall rules set for it, etc.
The manual has examples too.
