Title: Burst of pings originating from WAN
Post by: sphov11 on October 03, 2022, 06:38:02 pm
Every 1 minute I am seeing big bursts of pings originating from my WAN going to random IP's all over the world. Incoming pings are blocked, and the traffic only ever originates from the WAN IP itself.
I was looking at Firewall: Log Files: Live View when i saw this traffic happening. No idea why this is occurring but from what I can tell it is originating from OPNsense itself. Anyone have ideas?

A good test would be to block traffic from LAN to WAN, so you will find out if those pings are originating from OPNSense box.
The reason you are seeing the pings originating from WAN could be because of NAT.

It looks like it was NAT but not normal NAT lol. I forgot I had private internet access VPN running in the background on my desktop, not connected to a server, but when i disabled that app the traffic stopped.

So you put me in the right direction to find, thanks!
