Title: DEC750 - Problem
Post by: dvjstefan on September 20, 2022, 03:13:39 PM
Hi,

I just recived my OPNsense HW DEC 750 box. But i think i did a big mistake :P

I had an opnsense running on a computer - did a backup, restore that backup on the DEC750.. And not it dosen't start up proper.. :(

I notice that DEC750 was 2.4 and 2.7 was running on my computer.

Is there any way to restore it to factory default, i did some google w/o any luck.

Connect a serial console, do a fresh install --> factory new device.

I doubt that the device needs a reinstall.

The problem is most likely that the interface names differ from your previous box. The interfaces on the DEC7x0 are named ax0 / ax1 and igb0 / igb1 / igb2.

You will need the serial console if you cannot edit the configuration file before you load it.

But you probably do not need a factory reset, because when you have the serial console attached, you can reassign the interfaces from there and be good to go afterwards. You can also reset to factory defaults from the OpnSense shell, but if you do not want to start from scratch, you will need to restore your old configuration and change the interfaces again.
