Title: question about Default values for Opnsense
Post by: DEC670airp414user on August 26, 2022, 10:48:11 AM
OPNsense 22.4.3_1-amd64
FreeBSD 13.0-STABLE
OpenSSL 1.1.1q 5 Jul 2022  on a DEC670

I am having issues with hight packet loss.

here is my question.  system > gateway > single > advanced:    when you click the red I for information.   when the field IS BLANK.    but it says the default value is set to   10/20

1.   what happens when it reaches that high value exactly
2.   if the field is blank,   does the default value listed hold true, or do I need to manually type in this value?

The gateway is marked down. If you have only one gateway, nothing happens. If you have multiple gateways and default gateway switching is enabled, another gateway will become the default. If the gateway is included in a gateway group, it will no longer be used by that group until it's up again.

Yes.

No.

Oh, one more thing: If you use the gateway for policy based routing in firewall rules, these rules will be either rewritten to use the default gateway or dropped, depending on the advanced firewall settings.
