Title: Change of hardware and the problem of access to OPNsense
Post by: muserk on June 30, 2022, 10:15:03 AM
Backup configuration from OPNsense 21.7.8. Uploaded to new hardware up to version 22.
Made association of network interfaces.
Ping to OPNsense LAN either goes or timeout.
If you reload the configuration in the console, then after the reboot the ping goes on, sometimes it stops, sometimes it doesn't. Also, the web interface is either available or not.
The firewall has rules that allow everything.
The most incomprehensible thing is that it works, then it doesn't.

First check the cables, make sure that cables aren't an issue, if you can connect each cable to different router or switch or computer and see if all cables work just fine.

If cables are fine, go to console (physically without SSH) and assign interfaces, disconnect all ethernet cables and choose automatic detection for each network and connect a cable to a port you want to assign for the network when asked to do so.

Sounds like issue is due to bad cables, driver issue on network cards or your Opnsense has NIC which isn't supported.

Thanks for the answer.
We've checked it, we don't see any problems. Ping comes after applying the settings through the console, do not touch the wires.

Rialtek 8169 network adapters work on other hardware.

Tried resetting the default settings. We make an association of adapters and everything works.
We do the restoration of the configuration saved on another hardware, then the association of adapters. Does not work. It always works, but not for long after applying the settings (point 11 of the console).

Tried to uncheck/check the boxes in Interfaces: Settings Hardware CRC/Hardware TSO/Hardware LRO, it doesn't help.

If it works with resettign to defaults, then when you are choosing backup restore, choose type of things to restore one by one untill it fails again.

Some setting is doing something to prevent things from working.
