Title: Very slow download (1mbit), but good upload (900mbit) after upgrade
Post by: stijnos on April 09, 2022, 05:09:00 PM
Hello!
I've been running OPNsense for about two years now on a Proxmox host. Nothing fancy, and very stable!
The proxmox host has two built-in Intel NIC's. They are VirtIO devices (no PCI-e passthrough) in the OPNsense VM.
I have a 1gb/1gb fiber connection and with previous releases of OPNsense I've been able to fully use this connection.

After the latest upgrade to OPNsense (a.k.a. the new OS) I've been having trouble and have been forced to restore my backup to the 'old' platform.

The problem is that my download speed is very, very slow somehow. 0.5mbit to 2mbit range. The funny thing is that my upload is normal! (see image attached)

I tried an in-place upgrade, and also a clean install without config restore. Same behaviour... Any ideas on this issue?

Running either the upstream or downstream connection over a vlan? if so, is the parent interface of that vlan also enabled in opnsense?

So it indeed was this weird bug. I had to assign the non vlan interface and then enable it. Speed back....  :o

Not a bug, just the new way opnsense works starting with 22.1. It's mentioned in the initial release notes if I am not mistaken.
