Title: Upgrade to 21.7.2 - The upgrade has finished and your device is being rebooted
Post by: N0b0dy1985 on September 07, 2021, 01:11:40 PM
Hi, I initiated the upgrade, didn't see any errors, the device rebooted, but I never actually saw it go down... kept responding to pings, kept passing traffic. Version on the dashboard now shows 27.1.2, but the uptime shows 33+ days, and when I check for updates, I get a windows saying "The upgrade has finished and your device is being rebooted at the moment, please wait."  It's been over 15 minutes like that.

What should I do? Is it safe to manually reboot?

From what I can tell the reboot was interrupted by a running service not stopping proper.

You can always reboot manually, yes. Whether the blocking service will yield is another question.

Cheers,
Franco

Thanks for the reassurance, Franco. FW rebooted manually just fine.

If this happens again check which services are still running. I would suspect a plugin... just for info what plugins are you running?

Thanks,
Franco

Hello,

Same symptom on the X7SPA-HF in the 27.7.2 update

os-c-icap (Installed)
os-clamav (Installed)
os-collectd (Installed
os-dmidecode (Installed)
os-dyndns (misconfigured)
os-etpro-telemetry (Installed)
os-frr (Installed)
os-hw-probe (Installed)
os-iperf (Installed)
os-maltrail (Installed)
os-ntopng (Installed)
os-redis (Installed)
os-rspamd (Installed)
os-sensei (Installed)
os-sensei-updater (Installed)
os-smart (Installed)
os-sunnyvalley (Installed)
os-theme-tukan (Installed)
os-tinc (Installed)
os-upnp (Installed)
os-zabbix-agent (Installed)

Services do not restart on restart.

All are back in order after fitting the patch 21.7.2_1.

On the other hand the p8B-X is silent no boot and no display in shell mode, to be investigated to define what the problem would be.

Regards,

That's a lot of ground to cover in terms of running services. FWIW, I know redis and ntopng had issues with stop/start in the past.

Franco

Same here on one of three machines, but all have the same plugins:

os-nextcloud-backup
os-ntopng
os-redis
os-smart
os-theme-cicada

I'm counting three out of three for ntopng/redis combo. Coincidence?

Quote from: franco on September 08, 2021, 10:24:24 AMFWIW, I know redis and ntopng had issues with stop/start in the past.

Yesterday morning I upgraded one of my opnsenses from 21.7.1 to 21.7.2 and some minutes later to 21.7.2_1. No issues while upgrading or rebooting after upgrade to 21.7.2. Upgrade / Patch 21.7.2_1 triggered no more reboot. And redis is installed, but not ntopng:

os-acme-client (installed)
os-firewall (installed)
os-netdata (installed)
os-nginx (installed)
os-postfix (installed)
os-qemu-guest-agent (installed)
os-redis (installed)
os-theme-cicada (installed)
os-theme-rebellion (installed)
os-theme-tukan (installed)
os-theme-vicuna (installed)
