Title: How do you install OPNsense on a DEC840
Post by: jpoet on July 31, 2021, 06:47:59 PM
I let my DEC840 update to the latest OPNsense version yesterday. That was a mistake as it then would not boot:

EFI Hard Drive (TS256GMTS952T2) boot failed.

I then downloaded the nano installer and wrote it to my thumbdrive, but the DEC840 doesn't see it as a valid boot option. I looked in the BIOS but was unable to find a MBR boot option.

I then tried the serial installer, but it also was not detected.

Then the dvd install, but still nothing.

I finally tried the vga installer even though the DEC840 does not have a video output, and it was detected and the DEC840 booted it. Since the DEC840 does not have a VGA output, it doesn't seem to help me though.

If someone can tell me how to fix the boot issue on the DEC840 itself, or tell me how to boot one of the UEFI install images, that would be very helpful.

TIA,

John

Ah! I just found the section on how to ssh into the live image...
